When was the last time your parish finance council did a self-assessment of their duties? If it has been some time, or perhaps it has never been done, this attached self-assessment from the Archdiocese of Chicago can be a very helpful tool.
Seem like too much for any finance council to accomplish? It makes the case for a robust finance council with active sub-committees. Only with the involvement of many skilled individuals can the parish leadership truly provide good stewardship of the goods of the parish.
Have a small parish? These items should still be completed. If you don't have the skills or talent in your own parish community some parishes have asked larger parishes that have many skilled professionals to volunteer their time by serving on a finance council of a smaller parish in the (arch)diocese. At minimum the parish finance council can be in touch with the (arch)diocese for help and guidance.
