Comment by Phillip B. Johnson on February 12, 2013 at 1:50pm We had a meeting of the St. Thomas implementation team last night (Feb 11), including all eight members of our team. Our plan moving forward is to bring together a group of parish leaders, focusing on sharing, discussing, and developing goals for implementing our five-year strategic plan. Through this leadership group we anticipate utilizing and developing standards for excellence that will help us maximize the effectiveness of our various parish ministries.
The Sacred Heart team met last week for the first time since our training in January. At the training we established dates of completion from March through July for the standards on our "road map". We also made assignments of who would be responsible for the work on these standards. I am happy to report that there has been excellent progress made on the standards with March completion dates. We have a draft of our new Parish Employee handbook (standard 23) being reviewed and we have completed our job descriptions (standard 26). We also discussed how we would incorporate diversity into our Parish Council and Finance Board by laws (standard 14). We also spent time discussing Ministry Program evaluation (standards 3&4) and put a "pilot plan" in place to evaluate a new ministry. This will help us create a format for all ministry evaluations going forward. Our team will keep working and we hope to make more progress for our May meeting.

The Sacred Heart Team met last week and we are continuing to make progress on our road map. Our first ministry evaluation (standards 3-4) has been completed on a program called Living the Eucharist. This was offered for the first time this spring. This will set a template for future ministry evaluations.
We also have a format set for member expectations (standard 17) with the preparation of the Finance Board expectations. We will complete the standard with the Parish Council expectations in the same format.
Members of our team continue to work on several other standards such as job descriptions and volunteer roles. These are close to completion. We will meet again in July for updates on those and to plan for the future direction of our roadmap.
